Michael Bourque
Michael David Bourque started his design studio in 2019 to help clients create beautifully livable homes as a platform for living their best lives. He was honored to have his work featured at the prestigious Palm Springs' Modernism Week program in 2020. His projects also frequently appear in lifestyle and fashion photoshoots. Michael is known for his signature style, creating magnificent modern spaces, uniquely yours. Working all over California and the West, his full-service projects include whole home remodels, indoor/outdoor living spaces, innovative home offices, and design and setup of distinctive luxury vacation rental properties.
Michael's interest in interior design began early. Influenced by his grandmother's perpetual redecorating of her grand Victorian in all the latest fashions of the 60s and 70s, he began decorating his own room as a young boy, crafting household finds into fabulous new decor! Later, he remodeled a series of his own homes, honing his design aesthetic while learning practical DIY construction skills. After a successful career in high tech as an HR executive, Michael turned his passion for design into his profession, launching his design business in Palm Springs, whose minimalist mid-century modern architecture called to him like a siren song.
Michael takes an especially collaborative approach with clients, crafting a design vision that’s truly an expression of who they are. With a Master's in psychology, he spends considerable time getting to know his clients, listening to their instinctive likes and dislikes, and understanding what makes them happy in life and in their homes. He meticulously thinks of every detail about how the space will work, using layout and technology to make the home flow intuitively. Everything is naturally where you’d expect it to be whenever the whim arises, and Michael's homes are full of delicious spaces to sink in and enjoy life.
