Kimberly Joi McDonald

Kimberly JOI McDonald is Founder and CEO of Designing JOI, LLC, an award-winning and published professional residential and hospitality interior design firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was awarded to be an Interior Design Society (IDS) Fellow (2022), the highest honor of the Society, and is a Past National President of IDS (2018-19). As IDS National President, she was first to serve on the International Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) (2018-19). She chaired the IDS Legislative and Education committees, served on the Conference Committee, and was the inaugural chair of the first Diversity and Inclusion Committee (2021). She is the first black IDS National President. She is the Founder and Charter President of the IDS Las Vegas Chapter, and a brief Past Finance Director of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) California Central / Nevada Chapter (2011). She was awarded an inaugural 2021 Stylus Changemaker Award. She was selected to be a Real Vegas Magazine's 2020 Women Who Wow: Women of Substance. She was selected to be MyVegas Magazine's 2017 Top 100 Influential Women of Las Vegas, and a Past Distinguished Woman of Southern Nevada for years 1997, 1999 2015. She is a showhouse producer and co-interior designer of the 2020 Las Vegas Armoniosa Showhouse.  Her first career was a lead lobbyist and government executive for the City of North Las Vegas (1996-2008). Her second career is as a professional interior designer, small businesswoman and entrepreneur.  Her third career of which she is most proud of, was as caregiver to her deceased lovely parents for fifteen years.  Kimberly Joi holds a Masters in Public Administration (Summa Cum Laude), a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design (High Honors).  Kimberly Joi enjoys leadership, design, community service, charitable endeavors, life-long learning, writing, travel, creative and entrepreneurial pursuits.  See www.designingjoi.com
