For one family, that meant turning a forgotten storage room into the ultimate home theater! This space is now a moody retreat made for movie marathons, game nights, and just-one-more-episode evenings.

Interior Designer, Gloria Staats of Peace of Mind Design, created this three-tier layout that feels like a luxe boutique theater, complete with plush recliners, a custom sectional, and a mid-century-modern bar outfitted with velvet stools.

“My client valued comfort, high-quality experiences, and meaningful design,” says Gloria. “We splurged on key features, like cork flooring for its warmth and acoustic benefits, and custom furnishings that blended style with function, while balancing it all with smart, budget-friendly choices.”

Instead of traditional soundproofing, Gloria commissioned original artwork that secretly doubles as acoustic panels. A pixel-pattern felt wall and a glowing, hand-cut wood slat surround adds just the right dose of drama, and layered lighting and blackout window treatments complete the full theater experience, while warm textures make it equally suited for reading, relaxing, or late-night conversations.

It’s proof that thoughtful design isn’t just about how a space looks, it’s about how it makes you feel. And as fall settles in, this home theater is exactly the kind of cozy, creative escape to be in.
