Slater Interiors

Melinda Slater

I’ve been an interior designer for 17 years. The two things I enjoy most about design is the process of seeing through a home’s inadequacies and reconfiguring how a home or space can be utilized and knowing how our homes can truly support and renew us in ways we haven’t imagined before. Oh, and I love a good puzzle and that’s how I see design – reconfiguring a space(s) to create a home that is more functional, beautiful and supportive.

Designing is not about picking and placing items individually, it's about creating a holistic vision that ultimately tells the story of you, your style and your dream.

Design is an art that evokes emotion and connection and you should make you feel joy, comfort and contentment. When curated specifically for you, your home will tell a story of the person who lives there. My work is about giving your home a new meaning, a new feeling, a new story.

I don’t believe in a magic design bullet. What I do believe in is listening. Dreaming big. Seeing possibility. Inspiring authenticity. And ultimately capturing the spirit of you in your home.

I live in Mill Creek with my husband David, two Border Collies Quinn & Tara, and four cats Kai, Kismet, Monkey Man & Rosie. There were many that came before them and there will be many that will follow. I love animals and the energy they bring to our house and lives, each of them with their own quirky personalities that change over time, just like you and I.
